The Blue Footer is a movement requesting that every news outlet references the ORIGINAL source(s) of reported news at the footer of the news article, in a regular, plain, blue URL link. Not the intermediary source, but the original one (study, paper, report, interview, recording, photograph, etc.)

This promotes:

• Full transparency of the source material to the reader
• Speed on verifying where the information came from
• Inhibition of unreliable information dissemination
• Journalism accountability

How you can participate:

Place a blue regular URL link at the footer of your story for every source you used on the piece.

The public does the rest.
